A Survey on the health education status reflexed on the high school course

Abstract
The contents of this report are based on the research on the present health educational status in high school course examined in conformity with the school textbooks.
The study was conducted from early June to late August in 1983 for three months to evaluate the object of 920 third grade students of some high schools in MIokpo and Muan-Kun area on the main viewpoint of their hygienic knowledge and activity.
1. Among the people surveyed, girl students(41. 7%) had some more kinds of diseases than boy students(28. 7%) did.
2. In the survey of the student¢¥s hygienic knowledge and activity, the average score of the knowledge(61.6) is higher than that of the activity(58.9) in general, and statistically the girl¢¥s score is higher than the boy¢¥s(p<0.01).
3. Five categories that showed the most distinctive difference is environmental sanitation and disease control(p<0.01).
4. The choice of their counseling partners on health is in order of parents (50.5%), friends(34.4%), brothers and sisters(10.6%), teachers (4.5%). it explains that the parents being counselors appears most common(p<0.05).
5. For the opinions of adjusting school subjects on health, the majority of the students(77.6%) prefers somewhat integrated health subject rather than any other method, performed previously. The students of vocational high school agreed to that suggestion more than those of civil(liberal) high school did(p<0.01).
In this study, it seems to be essential that the sporadic courses of the health education system in high school be needed to get integrated to a single subject of health course. In addition, it is also desirable that the health course should be systematically taught and managed by such efficient teachers as have professional
knowledge¡¯s.
